S1 International Business Law (IBL) program is aimed at the point of intersection between law and business. This bilingual program is specifically tailored to the need of public and private entities for lawyers who are capable of performing management as well as legal works. The courses are co-taught by academia, advocates, attorneys, lawyerpreneurs, business practitioners, and entrepreneurs, from various backgrounds of law and business, to facilitate a multi-disciplinary learning approach and ensure that a right blend of theories and practices is impeccably applied.
This bachelor degree program in law focuses on the knowledge and skills required for those who aspire to become legal practitioners/professionals who are reliable and qualified in the field international business law, covering such wide activities as:
Students are trained to draft contracts for international agreement; settle legal issues related to the international infrastructure, construction, and merger/acquisition projects; or resolve disputes in-and-out of the court, through their obligatory participation in four workshops and moot-court competition. A mooting course is provided to equip students with the necessary skills to participate and excel in domestic and international moot court competitions. This course will prepare them to work in teams and compete against others with a step-by-step approach to reading moot problems, researching with purpose, drafting written submissions, and preparing for oral arguments.
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a core course under the program will be uniquely explained; students will engage in ADR simulations to learn negotiation skills and how to select the most cost-effective and least intrusive ADR. The student will understand the processes and methods of ADR techniques; learn the proper application and limits of ADR techniques; appreciate the ethical considerations involved in ADR; and develop a basic ability to apply ADR methods.
S1 IBL also offers courses that reflect the Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s educational foundation on entrepreneurship. Lawyerpreneurship, Lawyering in Digital Age, Business for Lawyers, Accounting for Lawyers, Private Equity Venture Capital Law, Investment Law, Legal Drafting, Transactional Lawyering, and Intellectual Property are only several of many subjects with entrepreneurial essence under this program. During their study, all students will undertake two internship programs, which are planned and scheduled through consultation with Career Development Centre and supported by partner institutions, ranging from multinational companies, law firms, to government institutions. The internship experience provides the student with an opportunity to explore legal career interests while applying knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a work setting. The experience also helps students gain a clearer sense of what they still need to learn and provides an opportunity to build professional networks.
