Students are trained to draft contracts for international agreement; settle legal issues related to the international infrastructure, construction, and merger/acquisition projects; or resolve disputes in-and-out of the court, through their obligatory participation in four workshops and moot-court competition. A mooting course is provided to equip students with the necessary skills to participate and excel in domestic and international moot court competitions. This course will prepare them to work in teams and compete against others with a step-by-step approach to reading moot problems, researching with purpose, drafting written submissions, and preparing for oral arguments.
Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a core course under the program will be uniquely explained; students will engage in ADR simulations to learn negotiation skills and how to select the most cost-effective and least intrusive ADR. The student will understand the processes and methods of ADR techniques; learn the proper application and limits of ADR techniques; appreciate the ethical considerations involved in ADR; and develop a basic ability to apply ADR methods.
S1 IBL also offers courses that reflect the Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s educational foundation on entrepreneurship. Lawyerpreneurship, Lawyering in Digital Age, Business for Lawyers, Accounting for Lawyers, Private Equity Venture Capital Law, Investment Law, Legal Drafting, Transactional Lawyering, and Intellectual Property are only several of many subjects with entrepreneurial essence under this program. During their study, all students will undertake two internship programs, which are planned and scheduled through consultation with Career Development Centre and supported by partner institutions, ranging from multinational companies, law firms, to government institutions. The internship experience provides the student with an opportunity to explore legal career interests while applying knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a work setting. The experience also helps students gain a clearer sense of what they still need to learn and provides an opportunity to build professional networks.
