Bachelor's Degree Program (S1) International Business Law at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya

With the development of business and international transactions carried out by business actors, business development in the last period in Indonesia has entered a new phase. This condition is in dire need of maintaining the practice of international business law. Meanwhile, international business law has become a guideline and source of law for resolving international business conflicts or disputes. Based on this fact, international business law as a discipline has developed rapidly in the last decade.

Universitas Prasetiya Mulya answers the challenges in the development of business and international business law by opening a Bachelor’s Degree Program (S1) International Business Law. The International Business Law S1 study program, as part of the Business Law S1 study program, has 3 (three) majors: International Comparative Commercial Law; International Maritime, Air, and Space Law; and Privacy and Cyber ​​Security Law.

Why take the Bachelor’s Degree Program (S1) International Business Law at Universitas Prasetiya Mulya

The bachelor’s degree program (S1) International Business Law is the meeting point between law and business. This bilingual program is specifically designed to meet the needs of public and private bodies for lawyers who are capable of performing management as well as legal work. The courses are co-taught by academics, advocates, lawyers, business practitioners, and entrepreneurs from various legal and business backgrounds to facilitate a multi-disciplinary learning approach and to ensure that a flawless blend of theory and practice is created.

This program focuses on the knowledge and skills required for those who aspire to become reliable and qualified legal practitioners/professionals in the field of international business law, covering broad activities such as:

  • Establishment of international treaties;
  • International financing design;
  • International trade;
  • International transportation and logistics;
  • Process of mergers and acquisitions of international companies;
  • Infrastructure and construction agreements and consortia;
  • Protection of Intellectual Property Rights; and,
  • Out-of-court settlement of international business disputes (e.g., through mediation and arbitration under international law and treaties).

Curriculum

Students are trained to draft contracts for international treaties; resolve legal issues related to projects in infrastructure, construction, and international mergers/acquisitions; or settle disputes inside and outside the court through their mandatory participation in four workshops and moot court competitions. Mooting courses are provided to equip students with the necessary skills to participate and excel in domestic and international moot court competitions. This course will prepare them to work in teams and compete with others with a step-by-step approach to reading contentious issues, researching with purpose, compiling written submissions, and preparing oral arguments.

Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR) as a core course under the program will be uniquely described. Students will engage in an ADR simulation to learn negotiation skills and how to choose the most cost-effective and least disruptive ADR. Students will understand the process and methods of ADR techniques; learn the application and limitations of appropriate ADR techniques; respect the ethical considerations involved in ADR; and develop basic skills to apply ADR methods.

S1 International Business Law study program also offers courses that reflect Universitas Prasetiya Mulya’s educational foundation on entrepreneurship. Lawyer-Preneurship, Lawyering in the Digital Era, Business for Lawyers, Accounting for Lawyers, Private Equity Venture Capital Law, Investment Law, Legal Drafting, Transactional Lawyering, and Intellectual Property are just a few of the many courses with entrepreneurial essence under this program. During their studies, all students will undergo two internship programs that are planned and scheduled in consultation with the Career Development Center and supported by partner institutions; ranging from multinational companies, law firms, to government agencies. The internship experience gives students the opportunity to explore their legal career interests while applying the knowledge and skills learned in the classroom in a work environment. The experience also helps students gain a clearer understanding of what they still need to learn and provides opportunities to build professional networks.

  • Case and project oriented:
    Discuss and analyze cases and projects with intensive and extensive guidance from legal and business practitioners.
  • Framed topics:
    Each session will feature topics based on themes relevant to the current situation.
  • Interdisciplinary approach:
    Collaborative work between law students and SBE/STEM students under the supervision of legal and business practitioners.
  • Comparative approach:
    Discuss and analyze legal issues and cases from two legal systems that are widely used by countries in the world, namely the Common Law and Civil Law legal systems

Undergraduates of S1 International Business Law study program from Universitas Prasetiya Mulya will have astute abilities in:
