About Us

With the comprehensive changes in the business landscape and organizational practices becoming more competitive in recent years, the School of Business and Economics (SBE) at Prasetiya Mulya University feels the need to continuously improve to maintain its strategic position and relevance among various stakeholders.

Therefore, it is crucial for SBE to establish a new division called SBE – Center of Excellence (SBE – CoEX) as a form of strategic collaboration among various expertise of the Faculty Members (FMs) with the current needs and practices in the industrial world. Through SBE – CoEX, each FM at SBE has the opportunity to engage with the industrial world and various other organizations, both in the private and public sectors. The collaboration between SBE – CoEX and diverse stakeholders can be seen in the emergence of professional consulting services, business consulting, training, executive education, and continuous education modules. These initiatives are based on research and expertise concepts specifically tailored to align with current workplace conditions and organizational practices.

At SBE – CoEX, each FM can conduct research and sharpen conceptual skills, knowledge, and experience relevant to their workplace, forming partnerships with both public and private sectors. SBE – CoEX is also connected with key partners such as industries, small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), practitioners, international accreditation institutions like AACSB, other universities, and government/policy stakeholders. Apart from potential benefits, the establishment of SBE – CoEX can strengthen the strategic position and reputation of the school from the perspective of various stakeholders. Ultimately, SBE Co-Ex can enhance the school’s position in the eyes of prospective students, educators, and partners. Lastly, and no less importantly, the establishment of SBE – CoEX is expected to assist in enriching teaching techniques and various research initiatives and skills of the faculty as they bring their engagement experiences in various SBE – CoEX projects into the classroom (teaching context) and for publication (research context).

In general, the outputs produced by SBE – CoEX cover five (5) areas, as follows:

  • Research according to needs: Aimed at exploring new domains to explain and capture the attention of the academic community, focusing on precision, relevance, and actionable implications.
  • Embedded research: To generate studies relevant to managers, researchers must answer the question "What's in it for me?" from a practitioner's perspective. This step is to secure the attention of practitioners while addressing marketing-related issues. This includes interacting with the business community to identify challenges and examine new insights to overcome them. This involves building strong relationships with the business community to identify challenges and applying new insights to address them. These insights serve as unique solutions for specific businesses, with the overall learning and understanding shared with the broader academic and practitioner community through relevant publications.
  • Leadership based on Ideas: Dissemination of knowledge through one or several channels such as (a) publishing articles in leading scientific journals and trade-themed magazines, (b) publishing books, book sections/excerpts, and monographs, (c) organizing conferences for practitioners and academics, (d) conducting seminars for professors and doctoral students, (e) and offering workshops for researchers and managers.
  • Certification Programs: In addition to publishing case study studies, SBE Co-EX can also disseminate knowledge through the organization of certification programs, with themes such as business strategy models for marketing relationships, profitable customer acquisition and retention through targeted direct interactions. And the use of communication methods from all levels to generate greater benefits for the company.
  • Executive Learning: Dissemination of knowledge by involving the business community in teaching sessions that result in executive education.
